What is Semax?+
Semax is a synthetic peptide built from a short fragment of ACTH, a signaling hormone the body makes. It has been studied, mostly outside the U.S., in research on attention and cognitive function. At Bon it is prescribed by a licensed clinician and compounded by a licensed U.S. pharmacy as a nasal spray.
Is Semax FDA-approved?+
No. Compounded drugs, including compounded Semax, are not FDA-approved. They are prepared by a licensed pharmacy for an individual patient with a prescription.
Can I legally get Semax this way?+
Under an interim HHS policy announced in October 2026, state-licensed 503A pharmacies may compound Semax for nasal use with a valid patient-specific prescription. The policy is temporary and could change, and state rules can differ.
